NEWTON – A Newton man faces nearly a dozen charges after he was arrested for possessing child sex abuse material.
According to the Newton Police Department, law enforcement received information on June 25, 2026, that 34-year-old Dion Jamal Innis of Newton may have been in possession of child sexual abuse material. Police executed a search warrant on August 5 on a digital storage device belonging to Innis, and officers say they found child sexual abuse material on the device.
Innis was arrested without incident on August 6 and taken to the Jasper County Jail. He now faces 11 counts of possession of a depiction of a minor in a sex act, first offense (Class D felonies).
The case remains under investigation.
