There has been a sharp increase in the number of coronavirus cases in Wapello County. Figures released Monday (5/11) from the Iowa Department of Public Health say 41 new COVID-19 cases have been found in Wapello County, for a pandemic total of 259. Four new cases were reported in Monroe County, two in Keokuk County, two in Poweshiek County and one in Marion County. In all, there are 414 new coronavirus cases in Iowa, for a pandemic total of 12,373.
There have also been six more deaths in Iowa from coronavirus, for a total of 271. And 5249 Iowans have recovered from the virus.
