OSKALOOSA — Mahaska Health has welcomed Kyle Brown, MD, to the Emergency Medicine team.

Dr. Brown is a board-certified Family Medicine physician who provides Emergency Medicine care. Dr. Brown earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in St. Kitts. He completed his Family Medicine residency at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center through the Iowa Medical Education Collaborative and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Before becoming a physician, Dr. Brown spent years working as a paramedic and emergency department patient care technician. That experience shaped his collaborative approach to emergency medicine and provided a strong understanding of prehospital and emergency care.

“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Brown to our Emergency Medicine team,” said Dr. Gritters, Emergency Medicine Medical Director at Mahaska Health. “His experience both inside and outside the hospital gives him a unique perspective on emergency care, and his team-first approach will be a tremendous asset to our patients, EMS partners, and community.”

In addition to caring for patients in the emergency department, Dr. Brown is a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine and enjoys teaching wilderness and environmental medicine. Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, he is proud to serve patients across southeast Iowa.

Mahaska Health provides Level IV Trauma Center care for patients throughout the region, with emergency physicians onsite 24/7. Radiologic imaging, laboratory, orthopaedic and surgical services are also available to support emergency care needs.
