The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors held a regular meeting this morning and appointed a new county auditor. The board said that the choice had been narrowed down to two final candidates, and ultimately, Madison Garden was appointed as the Mahaska County Auditor. Garden was sworn in at the meeting this morning, taking over the county auditor position effective immediately, after former county auditor Jody Groenendyk announced her retirement effective April 30.
The board also discussed the possibility of implementing an ordinance for dangerous dogs and other dangerous animals. Board member Steve Wanders suggested that the group table the subject until a later date, so that they may hold meetings in the meantime to iron out what that ordinance may look like.
The rest of the board agreed, and the subject was tabled.
The next regular meeting for the Mahaska County Board of Supervisors will be held on May 19.
