LOCAL RACE FAN LOSES HIS FIGHT AGAINST LEUKEMIA

Local race fan loses his fight against leukemia

A boy from Oskaloosa has lost his fight with leukemia.  According to a Facebook post from his mother, 11-year-old Caleb Hammond died at 2am Monday.  Caleb was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 9.  Caleb was a racing fan…and he had written drivers for racing stickers that he could put on his casket. He got much more than that. Last month, Caleb was able to drive a race car at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds in Oskaloosa.  Funeral arrangements for Caleb Hammond are pending; a Go Fund Me page has been set up for funeral expenses.
