KNOXVILLE – A Knoxville man was arrested after leading authorities on a high-speed chase through Knoxville city limits.

Court documents state that on Monday night, at approximately 9:20 PM, a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy observed two motorcycles traveling south on Lincoln St, with one of the motorcycles moving at a high rate of speed. The deputy clocked the motorcycle at 71 mph in a 35 mph zone.

The deputy then attempted to initiate a traffic stop when they reportedly observed the motorcycle accelerating away. The motorcycle continued to accelerate through traffic, proceeding south until the driver almost lost control of the motorcycle near the intersection of Highway 14 and Nixon Street. The deputy in pursuit reported the motorcycle reaching a speed of 106 mph at one point during the chase.

The driver of the motorcycle eventually came to a stop south of Nixon Street, where he was later arrested and identified as 45-year-old Josh Turner of Knoxville. Turner now faces a charge of Eluding at a Speed Over 25 MPH Over the Speed Limit, a Class D felony.
