We’re less than two weeks removed from the harrowing incident in New York – where Bebe Rexha was performing and some concert attendee (we won’t call them a ‘fan’) hurled a cellphone at her as she performed, hitting her in the eye and causing her to drop to the stage, eventually needing stitches.
As scary as that was, it’s hard to believe it happened again – this time to Kelsea Ballerini, who was on stage Wednesday evening in Boise, Idaho when an object thrown from the crowd nailed her in the face. She stopped the show and left the stage, eventually returning to address the incident.
“Can we just talk about what happened?” Ballerini said to the crowd. “All I care about is keeping everyone safe. If you ever don’t feel safe, please let someone around you know. If anyone’s pushing too much or you just have that gut feeling, just always flag it. Don’t throw things. You know?” It’s difficult to fathom that crowds need to be told this, but here we are.
- In a follow-up on Instagram, Kelsea updated her fans on the incident: “Hi. I’m fine. someone threw a bracelet, it hit me in the eye, and it more so just scared me than hurt me. We all have triggers and layers of fears way deeper than what is shown, and that’s why i walked offstage to calm down and make sure myself, band and crew, and the crowd all felt safe to continue,” she wrote. “That’s all i ever want, is for shows to feel like a safe place for us all. I love you and appreciate all of the concern, let’s make the last two shows of the heartfirst tour the best yet.”
