Grassley Stands Firm On No Supreme Court Hearings

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Senator Charles Grassley continues to stand firm in refusing to hold hearings on any Supreme Court nominee President Barack Obama may recommend.
He says he’s “at the point of their spear” of Democrats who continue to bombard him with criticism and taunts that he’s not doing his job.
Grassley says Democrats know no nominee will be considered and are politicizing the issue. He rejected the suggestion that he and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell first politicized the process by refusing to consider any Obama nominees.
Grassley declined Wednesday in a call with reporters to discuss whether nomination of Iowan Jane Kelly, a judge he recommended for the federal appeals court, would affect his refusal to hold hearings.
He says it’s about the principle of letting voters choose, not about individuals.
