FATAL ACCIDENT IN OTTUMWA EARLY TUESDAY MORNING

Fatal Accident In Ottumwa Early Tuesday Morning

The Iowa State Patrol has reported a fatal accident which occurred in Ottumwa just after midnight Tuesday morning.

The accident was reported on Wapello Street, south of Highway 34, at 12:40 AM.

According to the crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, 21 year old Tyler Weston of Ottumwa was southbound on Highway 149 (Business 63) when he crossed the intersection with Highway 34 onto Wapello Street. Weston then lost control of his 2014 Chevy Silverado pickup truck, and went off the west side of the roadway. The truck vaulted over Joe Lord Memorial Drive, and overturned multiple times coming to rest on its top.

The crash report shows that Weston and his passenger, 20 year old Justice Nord, were not wearing their seatbelts, and were ejected from the vehicle and killed.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Ottumwa Police Department.
