Regional softball is just around the corner and the Class 1A, 2A, and 3A brackets have been released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

In Class 1A Region 3, Lynnville-Sully and North Mahaska drew byes in the bottom half of the bracket. L-S will await the winner of Colo-Nesco and GMG and NM will play either Montezuma or Tri-County. The first round is on Monday, July 3^rd, while the second round is on Wednesday, July 5^th. All games in that half of the bracket begin at7 PM. The top team in the region is #4 Newell-Fonda.

In Class 1A Region 6, BGM will host Iowa Valley in the first round on July 3^rd at 7 PM. Winner of that game will play either Don Bosco or CAL in Brooklyn on the 5^th. In the bottom half of the bracket, English Valleys will host Lone Tree on July 3^rd at 7 PM. If the Bears win, they’ll play conference opponent Belle Plaine, who received a bye in the first round. #5 AGWSR is the top team in the bracket.

Region 7 in Class 1A in scattered with area teams. Twin Cedars will have to go on the road to face Southeast Warren on July 3^rd to have a chance to play top seed and 3^rd ranked Martensdale-St. Marys in the second round. Also in the top half, Melcher-Dallas, who has been hot of late, will host Seymour on the 3^rd. In the bottom half of the bracket, Sigourney and Moravia both received byes and home games in the second round. Sigourney will play either Winfield-Mount Union or Keota on July 5^th and Moravia will line up against either New London or Moulton-Udell.

In Class 2A, Region 6 includes the top area team in the class in Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. The Rockets, ranked #3 in the latest rankings, are the top seed and will face either Cardinal or Van Buren in Eddyville on Wednesday, July 5^th at 7 PM. Should they advance to the semifinals, Pekin could be their opponent. The Panthers will play Danville on the 5^th in Packwood.

Pella Christian received the top seed in Class 2A Region 7. The 8^th ranked Eagles will play either Woodward-Granger or Panorama in Pella on July 5^th at 7 PM. Pleasantville is also in the top half of the bracket and they’ll face Des Moines Christian on the road on the 5^th at 5:30 PM.

Finally, in Class 3A Region 7, PCM will host Chariton in the first round, while Albia got the #2 seed in the bracket and will host Central Decatur in the first round. Both of those games are on Wednesday, July 5^th at 7 PM. #5 Solon is the top team in the bracket.
