E.B.F.H.S Marching Band Wins at Pella

The Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont Marching Band had a great day in Pella Saturday as they outscored a total of 10 other bands at the Marching Dutch Invitational. The band placed 1st in class 2A with a score of 67.4 eight points ahead of the closest 2A band.

PCM won the Outstanding Drumlne and Color Guard Awards in class 2A. Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont outscored the bands from Don Bosco, Des Moines Christian, Keumper Catholic, PCM, Carlisle, South Tama, North Polk, Knoxville, Williamsburg, and Humboldt.

The E.B.F.H.S. Marching Band has 67 members this year. The soloists for this year’s show are Delanee Van Zante, Claire Jager, Bridget DeWitt, Adlynn Eveland, Teri Lane, and Tayler Jones. The Drum Majors are Claire Jager and Grace Manternach. The band is directed by Joe Overton, Dezirae Fairchild, and Color Guard instructor Paige Ver Steegh.

This Saturday, the band travels to Urbandale for the Urbandale Marching Invitational Contest. They perform at 5:00 in class 2A competition. The band competes at Valleyfest in West Des Moines on October 10th. On October 17th the band competes at State Marching Band Contest in Pella and then at the Mid-Iowa Band Championships in Ankeny that evening.
