MONTEZUMA – Montezuma High School will officially have a new principal next school year.

The district announced yesterday that Derrick Dengler has been appointed as the new Montezuma High School principal for the 2026-27 school year. 

Dengler has served the Montezuma school district for ten years as a teacher and a coach, in addition to previous leadership positions. In a statement released to social media, Dengler said, “Montezuma has a great tradition of academic achievement, community pride, and dedication to our students, and my goal is to grow that foundation.”

Dengler will be taking over the role for Rich Schulte, who worked as the high school principal for the 2025-26 school year while also serving as superintendent.
