A serious disease has been found in a dog coming from a Knoxville dog breeding facility. A confirmed case of canine brucellosis originated in Double G Kennels. The small dogs were recently sold at a dispersal sale. Brucellosis is a bacterial disease than can affect dogs and other animals…and it can also be transmitted to humans. The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship says there’s little risk to pet owners, but a higher risk to dog breeders, veterinary staff and people who come in contact with a dog that tests positive for the disease. If you recently bought a new, small dog from Double G Kennels, contact your veterinarian.
