FAIRFIELD, Iowa (AP) — Authorities are investigating a weekend house fire that left one man dead in southeast Iowa.

Officials with the Fairfield Police Department say fire crews found the body of 56-year-old Richard Hendershot while responding to a Sunday house fire in Fairfield.

The Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are assisting in the ongoing investigation. No further information was provided.
