On this day in 1992, Billy Ray Cyrus becomes the first country artist to ship 5 million copies of his debut album, with the latest certification of Some Gave All. The album included Cyrus’ break out hit breakthrough song “Achy Breaky Heart”.
The album would be Certified 9× Platinum by the RIAA.
The 2016 presidential election seems to have caused a rift among many Americans, with that divide growing ever more evident with the hurtful things people are saying about each other online. Maddie and Tae’s Maddie Marlow has noticed how strained things have become recently and she’s taken to social media to slam cyber bullies for the unkind things they’ve said. In a lengthy message posted on Instagram, Maddie said that having an opposing political view doesn’t make someone a bad person and it’s definitely no excuse to treat them poorly. Marlow said, “People complained about how both candidates were bullies in their own ways but YOU are the bully by bashing people on our social media for thinking differently than you. GOD FORBID you experience diversity here on Earth.”
· Maddie then said Jesus wouldn’t bash someone for a thinking differently, but would rather be “loving on EVERYONE.” She also said, “It is not our job as Christians to try to tell people they are wrong for what they believe. It’s our job as followers of Christ to LOVE OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS even if they are different than us!”
· She then wrapped up the message by saying, “If your political views define who you are as a human and you can’t stand to have friends that have different views than you, than you need to reevaluate my friend.”

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Hundreds of protesters angry about Donald Trump’s presidential win blocked Interstate 80 in Iowa City for about a half-hour, backing up traffic for miles.
The protests began Friday afternoon when about 200 high school students walked out of class and held a rally on the University of Iowa campus, dubbed a “Not My America” protest. University students joined the protest and listened to speeches before marching through downtown and down Dubuque Street toward the freeway.
Protesters walked out onto I-80 about 5 p.m. Iowa City police and state troopers held back traffic but didn’t intervene in the protests.
Protesters dispersed about a half-hour later and walked toward downtown.
The protest caused huge traffic snarls on the freeway and Dubuque Street.
On this day in 2012, Valory Records released Thomas Rhett’s “Get Me Some Of That” to radio. The song was released as the fourth single from his debut album, It Goes Like This. The song would later go to number one on the charts and would be Certified Platinum by the RIAA.

Sara Evans will hit the road this holiday season on a 10-city Christmas tour. The tour will kick off on December 3 in Birmingham, Alabama, making additional stops in major markets such as Jacksonville, Florida, and St. Louis. During the tour, Evans will perform some of her biggest hits as well as music from her 2014 holiday album, At Christmas.

PELLA, Iowa (AP) — A federally mandated study has concluded that Pella Corp. inadvertently released two dangerous chemicals into the ground at its plant in Pella.
The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/2eYAuaR) that the study says pentachlorophenol and dioxin have reached the groundwater. Only those two chemicals were found at higher than acceptable levels.
Pella officials say the contaminants do not threaten the city’s drinking water, which comes from the Des Moines River and the Jordan aquifer.
The study was a result of a 2010 settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency, which required the company to test for 30 different possible sources of contamination. A Pella manager, Jim Nieboer, says Pella will wait for guidance from the EPA on whether Pella must remove the chemicals from the ground.
On this day in 2014, Warner Bros. released Blake Shelton’s collaboration with Ashley Monroe, “Lonely Tonight,” to radio. The song was released as the second single from Shelton’s eighth studio album, Bringing Back the Sunshine.
“Lonely Tonight” reached #1 on the charts and was Shelton’s 14th consecutive number one. The song would later be Certified Gold by the RIAA in 2015.
Mickey Guyton is officially engaged! Guyton shared the happy news on Instagram Wednesday afternoon (11/9), posting a picture of her diamond engagement ring resting on a pink journal that had the words “Can’t Even” printed on the cover. In the caption for the photo, Mickey said, “I’m not one to really talk about my relationship because I can be pretty private when it comes to matters of my heart. But here we are and this took me completely by surprise.” She then gushed, “It’s not about finding the perfect person. It’s about finding someone that you can go thru heaven and hell with.”

MANCHESTER, Iowa (AP) — A January sentencing has been scheduled for a man accused of being drunk when his vehicle ran into a loaded school bus near Manchester in eastern Iowa.
Court records show 42-year-old Monte Klink pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-offense driving while intoxicated and to two counts of causing serious injury by vehicle. His sentencing date is Jan. 18.
Authorities say Klink failed to yield at an intersection near Manchester on Oct. 1, 2015, and his sport utility vehicle collided with a West Delaware School District bus.
Authorities say all 32 students and the drivers were taken to a hospital. The students ranged from kindergarten through 12th grade. Most suffered minor injuries, and none had life-threatening injuries.
