Keith Urban Performs Drive-In Concert For First Responders

Keith Urban loves to perform live, and he recently found a pretty great way to do so. The singer hosted his first live concert in months Thursday night, taking the stage at the Stardust Drive-In Movie Theater outside of Nashville.

And this wasn’t just a concert for any old fans. The audience was made up of for more than 200 doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians and staff from Vanderbilt Health, part of Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The special audience got to watch the show from their nearly 125 vehicles, which honked and flashed their lights throughout the show.

As for how long this concert was in the works, Keith tells Rolling Stone, “Probably about a month ago,” explaining, “The idea for the drive-in was a no-brainer because of the car situation. Playing to people in cars was really the baseline of it. And the fact that drive-ins still exist? Who knew, man? I knew there were a handful of them around, but not to the extent that I started discovering them everywhere.”

On this day in 2003: A bevy of country stars and everyday fans showed up at the First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee, where June Carter Cash was remembered in a touching public funeral. Hall, Kris Kristofferson, Rodney Crowell, Ricky Skaggs, Connie Smith, Marty Stuart, Hank Williams Jr. and Trisha Yearwood. Larry Gatlin and the Oak Ridge Boys – two acts whose careers benefited from Johnny’s assistance – sang. And Emmylou Harris performed a couple of songs with the assistance of Sheryl Crow. Rosanne Cash, who was 12 years old when June married Johnny, told the assembly that June banned the word “stepmother” from the household. According to the Associated Press, Rosanne said, “My daddy has lost his dearest companion … and his soul mate. If being a wife were a corporation, June would have been a CEO. She is still a puppy so has lots of energy, loves to play, and is very active. She does get along well with other dogs and is curious with cats but not aggressive. She does keep her kennel clean at the shelter overnight so they think she could be easily house trained. Bella is spayed and does have her rabies vaccination. If you are interested please go to www.stephenmemorial.org and fill out and submit an application.

Maren Morris Back To Working Out After Baby

Maren Morris welcomed son Hayes only two months ago, but according to her trainer she’s already working out.

“We are back to training again and I’m so proud of her,” Erin Oprea tells “Us Weekly. “She worked up until basically the day, I think we trained like a day or two before she had the baby. And then we’re back at it.”

Oprea calls Maren a “riot,” sharing, “I love that girl. She’s just a cool person. Just a good person.”

The trainer notes she’s not pushing Maren to lose the weight, and instead is trying to get her to just “stay healthy.” She explains, “so I really want her to enjoy the journey and not stress over it because one, there’s not an end date. So I was, like, let’s just kind of enjoy this time while working towards feeling our best.”

On this day in 2011: Tim McGraw is sued by his label

On this day in 2011: Tim McGraw was sued for breach of contract by Curb Records, which claimed that he recorded his “Emotional Traffic” album too soon after the previous release. Tim had also filed a countersuit, saying Curb had kept him in an ongoing state of “involuntary servitude” by forcing him to wait so long to record new albums. His filing claimed that was a way to stretch out his contract indefinitely. McGraw’s suit also alleged that Curb’s decision to release a total of seven greatest hits albums was a ploy to extend his contract against his will.

Garth Brooks May Be Releasing Music Very Soon

Garth Brooks may be releasing new music soon, like very soon,  but you’ll have to be a member of Amazon Music to hear it.

During this week’s “Inside Studio G” a fan asked Garth whether his album “Fun” was still going to come out this summer, and Garth indicated that he wouldn’t really feel right promoting an album considering all that’s going on.

That’s when he had an idea, and said he was going to contact the folks at Amazon to try and release half the album’s tunes from the album right away. He says of the music, “it’s fun, but it’s country music. Check out this week’s episode here.
