  • Today in 1955, Elvis Presley’s performance at Jacksonville, Florida, whipped the audience into such a frenzy that it resulted in a riot. In fact, things were so out of control, most of his clothing was torn off by fans.

  • Today in 1972, 13-year-old Tanya Tucker made her debut on the country charts with the single, “Delta Dawn.”

  • Today in 1990, Pam Tillis guest starred on the TV series, “L.A. Law.”

  • Today in 2011, Tim McGraw was sued for breach of contract by Curb Records, which claimed that he recorded his “Emotional Traffic” album too soon after the previous release. Tim had also filed a countersuit, saying Curb had kept him in an ongoing state of “involuntary servitude” by forcing him to wait so long to record new albums. His filing claimed that was a way to stretch out his contract indefinitely. McGraw’s suit also alleged that Curb’s decision to release a total of seven greatest hits albums was a ploy to extend his contract against his will.
  • Today in 2015, Pake McEntire undergoes back surgery and subsequently suffered a stroke. We’re happy to report that he has since recovered.
  • Today in 2015, the Aaron Lewis single, “Country Boy,” featuring George Jones and Charlie Daniels, was certified platinum by the RIAA.
  • Today in 2016, Jennifer Nettles’ album “Playing With Fire” was released.
  • Today in 2017, Brad Paisley’s “Love And War” debuted at #1 on the Billboard country albums chart.
  • Today in 2017, Lucinda Williams and Lionel Richie received honorary degrees from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. On the same day, Chely Wright received an honorary doctorate from the College of Arts and Science at the University of Missouri in Kansas City.
  • Today in 2017, Dan + Shay’s Dan Smyers married Abby Law in Nashville.

Rodney Crowell To Release New Album In July

Rodney Crowell is releasing a new album this summer. The singer just announced that his 18th studio album, “Triage,” will drop July 23rd.

“Near the end of 2018, I began scribbling the first few lines that would become songs on yet another album,” he shares. “With monotheism, climate change, and cultural divide foremost on my mind, adequately framing the healing power of Universal Love became my primary goal.”

Rodney also shared his first single from the record, “Something Has To Change.”

  • Today in 2000, Curb Records confirmed Nashville’s worst kept secret as truth. After months of speculation, it was announced that supercouple, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, would indeed perform together in what would become known as the “Soul 2 Soul” tour.
  • Today in 2001, brought the world premiere of Dwight Yoakam’s directorial debut, “South of Heaven, West of Hell,” at the Olympia Theatre in Cannes, France. Dwight also co-wrote the western, which co-stars longtime love Bridget Fonda, Vince Vaughn, Billy Bob Thornton, Peter Fonda and Paul “Pee-Wee Herman” Reubens.
  • Today in 2001, Tim McGraw received an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Louisiana-Monroe, where he was once a student, but had dropped out to move to Nashville.
  • Today in 2006, Jennifer Nettles made her TV acting debut on NBC’s “Las Vegas.” During the episode, Sugarland performed “Something More,” “Just Might Make Me Believe” and “Down In Mississippi (Up To No Good),” its lyrics changed to “down in Las Vegas.”

Chris LeDoux Compilation Album Coming In July

A new Chris LeDoux compilation album is set for release this summer to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the release of the singer/cowboy’s debut album. “Wyoming Cowboy – A Collection” will be released July 2nd digitally, as well as on vinyl, the first time many of these songs have been released on vinyl.

The album will feature two rare tracks, “Oklahoma Hospitality” and “Album Intro,” both of which are getting their digital debuts. It also includes “We Ain’t Got it All,” a special posthumous collaboration between LeDoux and his son Ned. It also features songs with Garth Brooks and Charlie Daniels.

Thomas Rhett & Wife Expecting Baby Girl #4

Congratulations are in order for Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren. The singer announced over the weekend that they are expecting their fourth child, and yet another baby girl.

“Well… we are pregnant again!” he shared next to a picture taken at his show at Billy Bob’s Texas this weekend. “Tonight when I was on stage in Fort Worth about to play ‘to the guys that date my girls’ my wife talked to me in my (ear monitors) and said ‘you can tell them if you want’ so anyways, now you know,” adding, . “We are pumped to be having our 4th girl.”

The couple is already parents to five-year-old Willa Gray, three-and-a-half-year-old Ada James, and 14-month-old Lennon Love.

Thomas added, “Feel free to buy all the merch you want, knowing that all the proceeds are going straight to all these weddings I’ll be paying for one day! Love you so much @laur_akins we always wanted a big thanksgiving table????.”

  • And while four girls may sound like a lot, there’s no doubt Thomas thinks his wife can handle it. He recently shared, “I just watch my wife sometimes. I’m like, ‘I don’t know how you do this. I don’t know how you do this with such grace, adding, “I’ve said this before, but she’s my superhero, and somebody that I just get to learn from every day.”
  • ONE MORE THING! Thomas’ latest album, “Country Again (Side A)” debuts at 10 on the all-genre Billboard 200 Album chart this week. Thomas moved 15,000 equivalent album units to land his fifth Top 10 record on that chart.

  • Today in 2000, Faith Hill appeared in “Here’s To You Charlie Brown: 50 Great Years!,” the landmark television tribute to the late “Peanuts” creator, Charles Schulz. Faith started working on the project while Charles was still alive and had hoped to meet him. Unfortunately, he passed away before the meeting could take place, but she was told by the show’s producers that the late artist was thrilled that she was participating in the event. In the special, Faith serenaded Charlie Brown about girl trouble with “Poor, Sweet Baby,” a song from 1983’s “Snoopy: The Musical.”

Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan & More Set For Milwaukee Summerfest

After being canceled last year due to COVID, Milwaukee’s Summerfest is set to return in September, with a lot of great music.

This year the fest will take place over three weekends, September 2nd to 4th, 9th to 11th and 16th to 18th, at various venues around Milwaukee. The big shows, at the 23,000-capacity American Family Insurance Amphitheater, will feature such headliners as Luke Bryan, Chris Staplton with Sheryl Crow, and Zac Brown Band, featuring Gabby Barrett, as well as Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Dave Matthews Band, Chance the Rapper, and more.

But that’s not all, other artists confirmed for Summerfest include Brett Eldredge, Maddie & Tae, Jake Owen, Chris Janson, Jordan Davis, Jimmie Allen, Blanco Brown, Scotty McCreery, Cam, Phil Vassar and more.

This week’s H & S Feed & Country Store Pet of the Week is “Bonnie”, a 2 year year old Pit Bull mix. Bonnie is a smaller (45 lbs) Pit Bull mix who is energetic and affectionate, but she’s not too fond of other dogs or cats. She gets along great with adults and kids, and she’s even house-trained! Bonnie is vaccinated, spayed, and is looking for her forever home.
