Reba Drops ‘The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia’ Remix

Reba McEntire is dropping a new box set, “Revived Remixed Revisited,” on October 8th, which will feature new takes on some of Reba’s most iconic songs, and now she’s giving fans a taste of another song on the record.

Reba just released a new take on her hit “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia, with the new version remixed by Eric Kupper, putting a dance beat behind it.

  • Today in 1973, a day after Gram Parsons died, his body was stolen during transfer at the Los Angeles International Airport, then taken to Joshua Tree, where it was burned, in accordance with his request. Road manager Phil Kaufman is among two charged with the crime – he was ultimately fined $750.

CMT Artist Of The Year Honorees Announced

CMT’s “Artist of The Year” 2021 will take place October 13th at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Well, now we know who is being honored. This year’s honorees will include Chris Stapleton, Gabby Barrett, Kane Brown, Kelsea Ballerini, and Luke Combs.

The network notes these five artists “collectively dominated the last 12 months in country music, leading across all CMT platforms, scoring chart-topping albums and singles, while simultaneously finding creative ways to connect with fans and meet the personal and professional challenges posed by the pandemic.”

The special will feature never-before-seen performances, collaborations and moments, with performers and presenters announced in the coming weeks.

  • Today in 1960, Loretta Lynn made her Grand Ole Opry debut.
  • Today in 1977, Reba McEntire made her debut on the Grand Ole Opry. She performed “Invitation to the Blues.”
  • Today in 1996, Alabama released their second holiday album, “Alabama Christmas II,” and John Berry released his album, “Faces.”
  • Today in 1996, the mayor of Rhinelander, Wisconsin proclaimed today’s date as “Trace Adkins Day,” and presented Trace with the key to the city. The previous month, the mayor of Trace’s hometown of Sarepta, Louisiana had made such a declaration.
  • Today in 1996, Ty England’s “Two Ways to Fall” album arrived in stores.
  • Today in 1999, the Dixie Chicks’ album, “Fly,” began its second straight week at #1 on both the pop and country albums charts. In just two weeks, the album sold 545,000 units, which means it had already gone gold (you need 500,000 copies sold for a gold album). In fact, first day sales were 75,000. SoundScan figures show that the album had the highest first week sales of any act in country music history except for Garth Brooks.   • Today in 2000, Alan Jackson, Sawyer Brown and Travis Tritt joined Farm Aid founders Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young and a host of other performers in Bristow, Virginia for the 15th anniversary of Farm Aid.

Reba McEntire Had To Be Rescued From Oklahoma Building

Reba McEntire was one of seven people who had to be rescued by firefighters from an old building in Oklahoma when its staircase caved in.

Reba and a friend were, touring a historic site in Atoka when the stairs of the over 100-year-old building crumbled. Turns out the building was under renovation, and the stairs were scheduled to be replaced.

“While my team and I were in Atoka, OK yesterday checking out an old historical building, a staircase collapsed,” Reba shared. “Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. We were safely evacuated from the building thanks to the quick response from the Atoka fire and police departments.” Check out video here.

Kenny Chesney Shares Peek At New Football Doc He’s Executive Producing

Kenny Chesney serves as the executive producer of a new football documentary, and he just gave fans a peek at it. “More Than A Voice” focuses on the legendary play-by-play commentators for college football’s Southeast Conference.

“It was important for me to be a part of this film because John Ward was such a big part of my life growing up and loving sports in east Tennessee,” Kenny shares. “With his voice and his words, he painted a picture of Tennessee football that captured my imagination and the imaginations of so many.”

He adds, “I’m thrilled to be a small part of this film that sheds light on his genius and so many of the other voices who have made the @sec really special.” Check out the preview HERE.

Taylor Swift Misses Her Fans

Taylor Swift is missing her fans. The singer posted a new TikTok video about it, sharing a image of her making music at home, writing, “I’ve loved making music during the pandemic to connect with fans from afar but…”

She then shared images of her fans at concerts, and even partying with her at her listening parties. She captioned the clip, “i miss us”  #allithinkaboutisyou.”

And apparently her fans are feeling the same way. Not long after she posted the video “We miss you Taylor” began trending. You can check out the clip HERE.
