BRAD AND KIMBERLY PAISLEY OPEN FREE TOY STORE WITH A FOCUS ON DIGNITY

For Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley, material charity is just the beginning. The next step is charity of the spirit. The couple started “The Store” years ago in Nashville; instead of just a food bank where needy people get what’s handed to them, less fortunate families get to pick and choose what to bring home, thus helping them avoid the blow to the spirit having to accept charity can often bring.

This Christmas, the Paisleys have gone one step further: taking the concept of “The Store” and applying it to the holiday season. The focus is on dignity – instead of just taking what toys happen to be donated, they have opened a store where needy families can pick and choose the toys and gifts they feel would best fit their children. Once again, it takes care of the material needs – and the spiritual ones as well. “The emotional aspect of being able to give your child something your child wanted versus just something to sort of get you through the holidays, that’s such a load off the minds of somebody who maybe didn’t think they were going to be able to do that,” Paisley says.

Brad and Kimberly would like the toy store to be an annual thing, like their grocery store is, but the Paisleys say they would need the donations (of toys and money) to be consistent in order to pull this off year after year. But for Christmas 2023, a lot of families in Nashville are going to have a much better Christmas than they thought possible – thanks in large part to Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.
