Darius Rucker was on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” Monday and Kelly walked him up to the topic of helping others. Darius relayed some stories about his childhood, where his mother instilled in him the importance of helping others. Kelly used that as a bridge to a big surprise for the country singer.

“For your many, many charitable efforts over the years, and for helping those who need help, CMA is actually honoring you as the Humanitarian of the Year.” At this point a staffer walked out and presented Rucker with the trophy, while the country singer seemed dumbfounded. “Wow” was all he could say for a moment, over and over. It came as shock to Darius, who exclaimed, “I really did not know that!”
