Johnny Cash’s life will be the subject of a new Broadway musical, being developed by former Sony music boss Tommy Mottola.

Tentatively titled “Johnny & June,” a reference to the Man in Black and his wife June Carter Cash, the musical will be directed by Tony winner Des McAnuff, who was behind such musicals as “Jersey Boys,” The Who’s “Tommy,” “Big River” and more.

So far no actor has been cast to play Cash. The project is being is being workshopped with Dodgers Theatricals, which is also a producer.
