OSKALOOSA – An Oskaloosa man was arrested after authorities say he brandished a knife in front of another person and was found in possession of methamphetamine.

According to court records, the Oskaloosa Police Department received a call at around 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 19, in which the caller reported an unknown male brandishing a folding knife in a confrontation near a residence on C Avenue West.

The caller was able to give a description of the suspect, and a man matching that description was found on the 300 block of North D Street. The man was identified as 51-year-old James Davis of Oskaloosa.

Court documents state that when officers found him, Davis ignored their commands and attempted to walk away. Davis allegedly reached into his pockets as he was being apprehended, and he was ordered to the ground. He then pulled a knife from his pocket and dropped it on the ground before being searched; police say that they discovered a glass smoking device with white residue in a different pocket.

Davis was taken into custody and transported to the Mahaska County Jail. He now faces multiple misdemeanor charges, including Assault while Displaying a Dangerous Weapon (aggravated misdemeanor) and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine, First Offense (serious misdemeanor). He was also ordered to not have any contact with the victim.
