DISASTER PROCLAMATION ISSUED FOR JASPER COUNTY

Disaster Proclamation Issued for Jasper County

NEWTON – Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for Jasper County and three other counties following severe weather that began on June 29.

The disaster proclamation opens the door for state aid for storm-affected residents and takes effect immediately. It will remain in effect for 30 days unless it is ended early or extended, and it activates two assistance programs for eligible residents.

The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program offers grants up to $7,000 to households with incomes at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. These grants can help cover home or vehicle repairs, replace personal property or food, and pay for temporary housing. Residents seeking reimbursement for storm-related expenses will need to provide original receipts.

The Disaster Case Advocacy Program is also now available and has no income requirements. Through this program, case advocates help residents build a recovery plan and connect them with services and resources. This program remains open for 180 days from the date of the governor’s proclamation.

The Disaster Assistance Request Form and instructions can be found on the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management website:  homelandsecurity.iowa.gov/assistance.

The disaster proclamation covers Osceola, Polk, and Story Counties, in addition to Jasper County.
