THREE SEPARATE GUN RELATED INCIDENTS IN OTTUMWA OVER THE WEEKEND

Three Separate Gun Related Incidents in Ottumwa Over the Weekend

It was a busy weekend for the Ottumwa Police Department and Wapello County Sheriff’s Office as they responded to three separate calls on gun related incidents inside the city limits.

On the evening Friday, August 18  the Ottumwa Police Department responded to a report of a group of individuals fighting and one person had a gun. Darielle Daquan Golden, age 18, of Chicago, Illinois was arrested as a result of the investigation and charged with the following offenses:
– Disorderly Conduct a Simple Misdemeanor
– Carrying Weapons a Aggravated Misdemeanor

Early Sunday morning shortly before 2 AM., the Ottumwa Police Department received a call of shots fired in the 300 block of E. Main Street. During this investigation officers recovered approximately 25 empty shell casings from two different calibers of ammunition. It was also determined that vehicles and buildings in the area had been damaged by the gunfire. The Ottumwa Police Department has not received any reports of injuries as a result of this incident.

The third call occurred around 8 AM morning on Sunday, August 20, the Ottumwa Police Department responded to an outstanding arrest warrant at a residence. Members of the Ottumwa Police Department made contact with a male identified as David Garber. Garber was immediately arrested on two warrants for his arrest.

A search warrant was conducted at this apartment, which resulted in the seizure of illegal substances and two stolen firearms.

As a result of the investigation and search warrant, David Garber, 22 was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

– Probation Violation warrants (x2)

– Possession of Stolen Property

– Possession with Intent (Marijuana)

– Violation of Drug Tax Stamp

– Felon in Possession of a Firearm

– Possession of a Firearm by Domestic Abuse Offender
