#1 Oskaloosa Softball Squeaks Out Win in Pella

The Oskaloosa softball team moved to 17-0 by squeaking past Pella 2-1. The Indians took advantage of two Pella errors in the second inning to score the first run of the game. Josie Bunnell laid down a successful squeeze bunt to score Aubrey Miller. Pella would answer in the third to tie the game heading into the later innings. In the fifth inning, Oskaloosa got a leadoff walk by Bethany Rowley, who was then sacrificed to second by Kylee Silliman. Alexis Westercamp would single, moving Rowley to third, which set the table for Aubrey Miller’s RBI single, scoring what turned out to be the gamewinning run.

Miller was the offensive standout, going 4 for 4 with that RBI and a run scored. Oskaloosa overcame leaving 9 runners on base to run their record to 17-0 and conference record to 4-0.

The top-ranked Indians will get tonight off, and will play against Albia on the road Friday. That contest is the backend of a freshman-JV-Varsity tripleheader, which starts at 4:30. The varsity game should start around 7:30 PM.
