On this day in 1985, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson – collectively known as The Highwaymen- topped the chart with their song “Highway Man.” The song spent a total 20 weeks on the chart and finished 1985 as the 5th country song in terms of airplay. “Highway Man” also earned songwriter Jimmy Webb a Grammy Award for “Best Country Song.”
June 10th: On This Day
On this day in 1978, Willie Nelson’s Stardust album made it to number one, enjoying a total of 551 weeks on the chart. Stardust produced two top five songs on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart with “Blue Skies” at number one, and “All of Me” peaking at number three. In 1979, Nelson won a Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance for another song off of Stardust, “Georgia On My Mind.”

On this day in 1993, Farm Aid IV was held in Ames, Iowa with performer Willie Nelson.

Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard Teaming Up
Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard have teamed up to release a collaborative album later this year. The new studio album is titled “Django and Jimmie,” and will be released on June 2.
The New Album pays homage to two artists that had a huge impact on both Nelson and Haggard, Django Reinhardt and Jimmie Rodgers.
Willie Nelson’s 42nd 4th of July Picnic is Heading to Texas
Willie Nelson’s 4th of July picnic will return to Austin,Texas this year. Willie will again play host of the 42nd edition of the picnic that will feature artist such as Eric Church and Merle Haggard.
