Someone who broke into a home in rural Wapello County was shot and killed by the homeowner.  Around 9:20 Thursday night (2/18), Wapello County Sheriff’s Deputies received a 911 call that a man was trying to break into a residence between Ottumwa and Agency on 97^th Avenue.  Preliminary findings indicate a man was shot by the homeowner.  The man was taken to the University of Iowa Hospital, where he died from his injuries.  The dead man’s name has not been released.  The investigation is continuing.
