It is said that April showers bring May flowers, but Thursday (4/16) we’ll be getting some April snowflakes. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Wapello and Monroe Counties starting at 9am Thursday until 7am Friday (4/17). 6 to 9 inches of snow are expected in this warning area with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour possible in the afternoon and evening.
There’s also a Winter Storm Warning for Keokuk and Washington Counties starting at 4pm Thursday until 7am Friday. A total of 6 to 10 inches of snow is possible in this area and it is expected to be heavy, wet snow.
And there’s also a Winter Weather Advisory for Mahaska, Poweshiek, Jasper and Marion Counties starting at noon Thursday until 7am Friday. 3 to 6 inches of snow are expected in the Oskaloosa area with one to 4 inches forecast for Grinnell and Newton.
