U.S. Marshals Arrest Man In Cedar Rapids In Connection With Chicago Shooting

U.S. Marshals have arrested a man in eastern Iowa in connection with a fatal shooting in Chicago earlier this month.

A northern Iowa task force for the U.S. Marshals Service says 37-year-old Derrick “Nelson” Wells, of Chicago, was arrested Monday morning in Cedar Rapids. He was taken to the Linn County Correctional Center, where jail officials say he will be taken to Illinois to face charges.

Court records do not indicate whether Wells has an attorney.

Authorities say Wells is a suspect in a September shooting outside of a Chicago nightclub that killed a 28-year-old woman. The Iowa task force narrowed its search for Wells to an area in Cedar Rapids, where he was taken into custody.
