A motorcyclist from Newton was killed in an accident Sunday afternoon (4/21) south of Newton.  The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says it received a 911 call around 1:40 pm about a one vehicle motorcycle accident in the 5400 block of Highway 74 south.  When EMS arrived, it was determined that the driver, 59-year-old Robert Van Arkel of Newton, was dead at the scene.  An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
