A WOMAN WAS KILLED IN A DEER VS. VEHICLE ACCIDENT SUNDAY NIGHT IN TAMA COUNTY

A woman was killed in a deer vs. vehicle accident Sunday night in Tama County

A woman was killed Sunday night (12/23) in Tama County when a deer went through the windshield of her SUV. The Iowa State Patrol says 57-year-old Donna Kathleen Smith of Walford was a passenger in a SUV driven by 24-year-old Amy Smith of West Des Moines.  Around 5:20 Sunday afternoon, Amy Smith was driving east on US Highway 30 at Q Avenue, about six miles east of Tama, when she hit a deer.  The deer went through the windshield, hitting Donna Smith.  Donna Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.  The accident remains under investigation.
