The Oskaloosa Indians were on the road again on Friday night and were held out of the scoring column as they fell 42-0 to the Mount Pleasant Panthers.

The Panthers came into the game as a top-10 ranked team in class 3A according to most polls, and they were firing on all cylinders. They forced 6 Oskaloosa turnovers (4 interceptions and 2 fumbles) and only allowed the Indians to pick up 168 yards of offense. On the flip side, the Panthers averaged 10.9 yards per pass and 5.7 yards per rush, accumulating 339 yards of offense.

Mount Pleasant cruised to a 28-0 lead by the end of the first half before Oskaloosa’s defense showed signs of life in the third quarter, forcing three turnovers. Linebacker Barret Rinehart-Lynch and cornerback Iwan Buchanan both recorded interceptions off of Panther QB Grayson Walker, who had not thrown a pick in either of his first two games of the season. However, the Panthers were able to course-correct, scoring two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to force a running clock and put the game away without incident.

Oskaloosa (0-3) will host Washington on Friday night for their homecoming game.
