PELLA — Pella High School was briefly secured by law enforcement personnel this morning following an anonymous report of a threat.
According to the Pella Police Department, at approximately 10:55 AM, Pella High School received an anonymous call reporting a possible exterior bomb threat at the school. With limited information available, the call was dispatched as an active threat, even though authorities say there have been reports of other anonymous “swatting” calls today.
The Pella Police Department School Resource Officer was in the building and other officers arrived on scene within 3 minutes. They determined that the incident was not an active threat in progress. The department says that they placed Pella Schools under “secure” status under an abundance of caution, and officers searched the exterior of the building and the parking lots to ensure that no threat was present and no viable threats were located.
The department added that they will continue to follow up on the anonymous call, but no threats on school grounds were found.
