PELLA PD ANNOUNCES NEW SRO FOR UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR

Pella PD Announces New SRO for Upcoming School Year

PELLA — The Pella Police Department, in partnership with Pella Community Schools and Pella Christian Schools, announced Officer Calvin Wilner as the department’s new School  Resource Officer (SRO) beginning in the fall of 2026.

Officer Wilner is a graduate of Central College and joined the Pella Police Department in May 2024 after graduating from college that same year. Since joining the department, Officer Wilner  has served the Pella community in various capacities and has demonstrated a strong commitment to building positive relationships with those he serves.

As School Resource Officer, Officer Wilner will provide a consistent law enforcement presence within Pella’s schools while focusing on relationship-building, student and staff safety, and  serving as a resource to students, families, and school personnel. His full-time presence in the schools provides an opportunity to develop meaningful, positive relationships and to better  understand and support the school community.

The SRO program reflects the Pella Police Department’s commitment to community policing and its belief that strong relationships between law enforcement, students, families, and  educators contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment. Officer Wilner will work closely with school administrators and staff to support the schools’ educational mission,  address safety concerns, and respond when law enforcement expertise is needed.

The department said it looks forward to introducing Officer Wilner to students and staff and beginning this new chapter of the SRO program during the 2026–27 school year.
