OTTUMWA – A Centerville man is behind bars after police say he left a voicemail threatening violence against the Iowa Works office in Ottumwa.

According to a criminal complaint, 63-year-old Joe Jerome Glantz of Centerville is accused of leaving a voicemail for Iowa Workforce Development after calling the Iowa Works office located on Truman Street in Ottumwa during the afternoon of Tuesday, July 28, in which he expressed displeasure with the organization. In the message, Glantz allegedly said that he was “about ready to go up there and just f***** shoot the whole f***** place.”

Glantz was arrested shortly after the incident when Iowa Works staff reported the threat to police. He now faces a charge of Threatening Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent, which is a Class C felony, and he is being held in the Wapello County Jail without bond.
