IOWA HIGH SCHOOL STATE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT STARTS TODAY

Iowa High School State volleyball tournament starts today

The Iowa State High School volleyball tournament starts a four day run today (11/6) in Cedar Rapids.  Pella will play Cedar Rapids Xavier this afternoon at 4:00 in the Class 4A quarterfinals.  Pella is the seventh seed in the tournament, with Xavier the number two seed.  Tomorrow night (11/7), Montezuma plays Holy Trinity Catholic in the Class 1A state tournament.  We’ll have that game on KBOE-FM and the No Coast Network with coverage starting at 8 tomorrow night.

Two area football teams have advanced to the State semifinals at the UNI-Dome.  Saturday morning (11/10) at 10, Pella Christian will take on Dike-New Hartford in the Class 1A semis.  The Eagles are coming off a win at undefeated Bellevue last Friday to reach the Dome.  Then Saturday night at 7, undefeated PCM goes for their 12th consecutive win when they meet West Liberty in the Class 2A semifinals.

In college basketball, Iowa State opens its season tonight (11/6) when the Cyclones host Alabama State.  It’s the first of two games for the Cyclones this week.  On Friday night (11/9), they host former Big 12 opponent Missouri.

As for the Iowa Hawkeyes, they’re off until Thursday (11/8), when they host Missouri-Kansas City in the 2K Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project.  Tipoff time is 7:00 Thursday night and we’ll have it on KBOE-FM and the No Coast Network.

And Northern Iowa’s season tips off tonight with a home game against Bemidji State (MN).
