Rained Out at the Southern Iowa Speedway

Rain Strikes Before Races Forcing Cancellation at the Southern Iowa Speedway

Oskaloosa, Iowa (May 2nd, 2018) – The Musco Lighting Southern Iowa Speedway dodged all the rain on Tuesday Night and Wednesday Morning meaning there was going to be racing on Wednesday Night. Mother Nature though had different plans as drivers and fans were showing up to the speedway the rain moved and forced the Speedway to cancel the races at around 6:40 pm. 

Those in attendance in the grandstands and pits already keep your passes from Wednesday Night because they are good for May 9th or 16th races at the Speedway. 
 
The Southern Iowa Race Committee wants all fans to come out to the races Next Wednesday Night and there is no excuse not to make it a family event. All College Students and High School Students get in FREE to the grandstands next week with their Student ID, so no matter where you go to college or high school at bring your student ID. 
 
Next Wednesday will be by Binns & Stevens Dust Control, Supreme Lawn & Landscape and Kraig Ford Night at the Races. Adults are just $8, Military & Veterans are $5, Kids (6-15) $3, 5 & Under Free. Stock Cars, Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts are on the card plus the Iowa Sportsman Series, Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing to Follow.

Oskaloosa PD arrests D.Cooper on Sexual Abuse, Incest Charges

On Tuesday May 1, 2018 the Oskaloosa Police arrested and charged Dennis Eugene Cooper, age 44, of 1668 235th St. Oskaloosa, Ia.  The defendant was charged with Sexual Abuse 2nd Degree, Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree, and Incest.  This arrest stems from an investigation into allegations that the defendant had been sexually assaulting a member of the household.  These sexual assaults first started in 2008 and continued through 2018. These sexual assaults also occurred in multiple residences with in Mahaska County and Oskaloosa.  

Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree is a Class “B” felony and punishable by up to twenty-five years in a state penitentiary.

Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree is a Class “C” felony punishable by up to ten years in a state penitentiary.

Incest is a Class “D” felony punishable by up to five years in a state penitentiary.

The defendant is currently incarcerated in the Mahaska County Jail with a $300,000 bond.

 

It should be noted a criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Senator Ernst Visits Clow Valve

Yesterday afternoon, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa visited Clow Valve Company in Oskaloosa as part of her 99 Counties tour. It was her first visit to Clow.

Sen. Ernst met with General Manager Mark Willett and his team to discuss a variety of issues affecting Clow including work force development, trade, Buy American, and environmental regulations. After a tour Mark presented Sen. Ernst with a miniature commemorative Clow hydrant to display in her Capitol Hill office.
