BUSINESS:

There have been some changes at Penn Central Mall because of the coronavirus. Goodwill will be reducing its hours from 10 until 6 Monday through Saturday, Sunday 12 to 5.

Dollar General will be closing earlier than usual. They are asking customers to reserve that first hour of the day for those people that are elderly and at risk for health issues.

Maurice’s clothing store is now closed, as the company has decided to close all of its stores in the US and Canada for at least two weeks.

Carryout is available at the following mall restaurants:

Mi Ranchito during lunch and dinner

WanderLunch during their normal hours, 11 am to 2 pm

Pizza Ranch from 11 am to 2 pm and 4:30 pm to 7 pm.

Also at Penn Central Mall, the Ironside Axe Club and Old School Pinball and Arcade are both closed until April 2…and the Penn Centre Theatre will be closed until March 31.

CHURCHES:

First Presbyterian Church of Oskaloosa Sunday School & Worship is cancelled, as well as all activities cancelled until further notice. Catch their Live Stream on Facebook for a short version of Sunday Worship each week.

Metz Community Church in Newton is closed until further notice.

COMMUNITY EVENTS:

Harper Knights of Columbus fish frys AT THE K of C HALL in HARPER, IOWA have been cancelled

The last Eggs and Issues, scheduled for Saturday, March 28th, 2020 is canceled.

The George Daily Community Auditorium has moved Fly Dance Company’s upcoming performance, originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 25th, to Fall 2020. Tickets already purchased for Fly Dance will be honored for the rescheduled date. Individual ticket holders will be notified as more details become available. The Auditorium is also cancelling the World Dance Night scheduled for this Friday, March 20, the William Penn Art Show opening on March 25, and the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America concert scheduled for April 17

MUNICIPAL:

As of Wednesday, the City of Oskaloosa is closing its offices to the general public. That includes City Hall, the Police Department, Fire Department and Public Works. You can still reach any of these departments over the phone and online. There’s more information available at the City of Oskaloosa’s website. www.oskaloosaiowa.org

The Mahaska County Law Enforcement Center in Oskaloosa is now closed to all walk-in traffic. All essential law enforcement services will continue, but non-essential services may be limited. There is a list of phone numbers you can contact on our websites at www.kboeradio.com and www.radiokmzn.com.

The Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office says it is still open, but is trying to limit contact with the general public. You’re not allowed to visit inmates in the county jail. And it’s recommended that you call the Sheriff’s Office to see if you can get help over the phone or on the internet. The Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office’s phone number is 641-622-2727.

In Poweshiek County, the County Courthouse in Montezuma is closed to public access, except for court proceedings. All nursing and assisted living facilities in Poweshiek County have restricted visitor access, while UnityPoint Grinnell Medical Center has a no visitor policy.
