The Pella Dutch entered Friday night’s game against Oskaloosa looking for their first win of the season after facing perhaps the most difficult schedule that any team has faced in the state to this point, and they earned it with ease.
Unfortunately for the Indians, the game wasn’t a contest from the get-go. Oskaloosa’s first two offensive drives were both 3-and-outs, and Pella responded to both of them with TD-scoring drives that were each capped off by Kenson Fuller rushing touchdowns. Osky was able to move the ball for a few plays in their third drive, but it ended in disaster, as junior QB Trevor Willett and senior RB Tatum Westercamp fumbled a handoff exchange and the ball bounced graciously into the hands of junior Noah Parsons, who took it and saw nobody between him and the end zone, taking off for a 66 yard scoop ‘n score to make it 21-0 by the end of the 1st quarter.
Pella was able to cruise from there with Fuller tacking on a third rushing TD before halftime to make it 28-0 at half. The Dutch got the ball to start the second half, and Fuller’s second carry of the half went 66 yards for his fourth TD of the night. By then, the score was 35-0, and the running clock went into effect, with the Dutch eventually walking away with a dominant 49-0 victory.
Oskaloosa (1-6) will hit the road to face Cedar Rapids Washington next Friday. Pella (1-6) will host Clear Creek Amana.
