Residence Explodes in Chillicothe

CHILLICOTHE — On October 4, 2022 at 12:00pm, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call concerning a residence at 325 High Street in Chillicothe, Wapello County, Iowa. The caller stated the residence had exploded and a male subject was needing medical assistance.

When Deputies arrived a male was located near the residence. The male was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals by Air Med. The name of the male is not being released at this time and the condition of the male is not known.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation at this time.
The Wapello County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Wapello Rural Fire, Eddyville Fire, ORMICS, Ottumwa Fire Dept., Wapello County Emergency Management and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office.
