MAHASKA COUNTY WON'T POST ELECTION RESULTS IN COURTHOUSE LOBBY

Mahaska County won’t post election results in Courthouse lobby

Another tradition is going by the wayside this year because of coronavirus.  Mahaska County will not be posting election results on a large blackboard in the County Courthouse on Tuesday (11/3).  Mahaska County Auditor Sue Brown explains.

“We just are doing that in response to Covid right now.  A lot of times on Election Night, we’ll have shoulder to shoulder, all the people watching and we just felt like that wasn’t something that we wanted to promote.”

Brown says results could be posted on the blackboard when the votes are canvassed on November 10. And a reminder that you can vote in person Monday in Mahaska County until 5pm at the temporary voting building in front of the Mahaska County Courthouse in Oskaloosa.  Voting hours Tuesday are from 7am to 9pm.
