It’s time to get a flu shot.  UnityPoint Health in Grinnell will have flu shot clinics at Poweshiek County schools during October.  Poweshiek County health and wellness director Shauna Callaway tells us where and when the clinics will be.

“On the 7th, we go to Montezuma School from 4 until 7.  And we are requiring masks and social distancing measures will be in place, but we are actually doing that in the school.  And then on the 14th is Grinnell High School from 4 to 7pm, the 21st is BGM in Brooklyn from 4 to 7 and the 28th is back at Grinnell High School again from 4 until 7.”

Callaway also says that it’s always important to get a flu shot each year, but that importance is greater this year with the presence of COVID-19.  She adds that getting a flu shot won’t prevent you from avoiding coronavirus, but it will reduce the risk of getting the flu and that will reduce the possible impact on your respiratory system.
