Well, here’s some exciting news for Chris Stapleton fans. The singer tells “Rolling Stone” that he’s been working on new music with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell.

“He’s probably my favorite guitar player of all time,” Chris shares. “To sit around with him and write some songs has been cool.”

Chris says he’s also been working on new music with producer Dave Cobb, noting, “We did some last year too,” adding, “I don’t want to make any promises, but there is probably some new music on the way.”

Meanwhile, fans may get a taste of Chris and Mike music like this summer. Mike’s band Dirty Knots is set to open for Chris at Chicago’s Wrigley Field on August 29th.
