Bicyclist killed in Kellogg

Here’s an update to a story the No Coast Network has been following.  A bicyclist who was struck and killed by a semi-tractor trailer early Monday morning (1/6) has been identified.  The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old Jermey Ray Williams of Newton was killed in the early morning accident.  Around 4:30am, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a vehicle accident in the 8000 block of Hwy 6 East in Kellogg. The person who reported the accident indicated that a semi-tractor trailer had struck an individual on a bicycle.  When emergency personnel arrived, Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi, Melvin Ties of Newton, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, which is ongoing.
