He doesn’t want a speedy trial. A Poweshiek County Judge Friday (8/23) accepted Cristhian Bahena Rivera’s waiver of his right to a speedy trial for murder in the death last year of Mollie Tibbetts. A speedy trial means within one year. Tibbetts was found dead in August of last year outside her home town of Brooklyn. She had disappeared a month earlier while jogging. Bahena Rivera’s attorneys also asked for a delay for an upcoming hearing on whether Bahena Rivera’s interview with law enforcement can be used as evidence. That hearing will be held in late October. Baheana Rivera’s trial is scheduled for November 12 in Sioux City.
