KNOXVILLE POLICE LED ON 34 MILE LONG CHASE

Knoxville Police led on 34 mile long chase

A man from Des Moines is in custody after leading Knoxville Police on a 34 mile chase with speeds of over 110 miles an hour.  Shortly after 3am Sunday (7/21), Knoxville Police stopped a car in the 800 block of South Lincoln for an equipment violation.  What the officer didn’t know is that the car had been stolen Saturday night (7/20) in an armed carjacking in Des Moines.  The officer asked two of the three people inside the car to get out.  The driver, 22-year-old Daniel Ogden of Des Moines, then took the wheel and took off.  Ogden turned on to Highway 14 with speeds of over 110 miles an hour. The chase moved to westbound Highway 163, where law enforcement twice used spike strips to stop Ogden’s car with no luck.  The chase ended when Ogden hit a mailbox in a cul-de-sac in Pleasant Hill.  Ogden then fled on foot….jumping over two fences before he was finally caught.  Ogden was treated at a Des Moines hospital and released and was taken to the Marion County Jail.  He’s been charged with participating in a felony, second degree theft, providing false information, speeding, not having a valid driver’s license, no proof of insurance and fraudulent registration.
