Oskaloosa boys defeat South Tama County

In boys’ basketball Monday (2/18), Oskaloosa opened the Class 3A playoffs with a 65-28 win over South Tama. The Indians made eleven three-point baskets in that game, with Austin Hafner and Rian Yates making five apiece.  Hafner and Yates had 15 points apiece for Oskaloosa with Xavier Foster adding 13.  The Indians will host Washington Thursday night (2/21) in the substate semifinals.  Washington defeated Fort Madison 53-49 Monday night.

Also in 3A basketball, Substate 6: Pella over Newton 75-44, Carlisle defeated Grinnell 63-51 and Ballard eliminated Knoxville 79-60.  And in Class 4A, Davenport West defeated Ottumwa 69-41.
