MORE THAN 6.5 MILLION POUNDS OF BEEF PRODUCTS RECALLED DUE TO POSSIBLE SALMONELLA

More than 6.5 million pounds of beef products recalled due to possible salmonella

More than 6.5 million pounds of raw beef products are being recalled because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.  The raw, non-intact beef items, including ground beef, were packaged by JBS Tolleson, a Tolleson, AZ, company, from July 26 to Sept. 7, 2018, according to the USDA.  The recalled beef products bear establishment number “EST. 267” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations and institutions nationwide. (Product Labelsand Product Lists)

An investigation by the Food Safety and Inspection Service identified 57 case-patients from 16 states with illness onset dates ranging from August 5 to September 6, 2018.  The FSIS is concerned that some products may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
