OSKALOOSA GETS A WIN OVER FAIRFIELD

Oskaloosa gets a win over Fairfield

Oskaloosa High’s football team had some last second drama Friday night against Fairfield.  Fairfield was driving for the game-tying touchdown with 19 seconds to go; fourth and one at Oskaloosa’s six yard line, when Fairfield quarterback Carson Crile fumbled, Osky’s Cole Kraber recovered it and returned it 80 yards to make the final score Oskaloosa 28, Fairfield 14.  After the game, Kraber talked about the play.
“We were stacking the box.  We knew they were going to run up the middle.  I saw the ball on the ground and I saw Nik Dykstra coming in. I saw that guy jump down, he jumped on top and the ball popped up. I just picked up the ball and was running as fast as I could.”
Kraber’s fumble return is the second longest in Oskaloosa school history. (Wayne Kempenaar returned a fumble 85 yards against Ames in 1952)
Cole Henry passed for two Oskaloosa touchdowns and senior Casey Hill rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown–Hill’s third consecutive hundred yard rushing game.
The 2-1 Indians play at Norwalk Friday night (9/14).  You can hear that game on KMZN and the No Coast Network.
