OSKALOOSA GIRLS' SOFTBALL RAMPAGES THROUGH CLASSIC

Oskaloosa Girls’ Softball Rampages Through Classic

The Oskaloosa softball team is now ranked #2 in the state in Class 4A, believed to be their highest ranking ever. They are 10-0 after a clean sweep of their three games at the first of their two Oskaloosa Classics at the Lacey Recreation Complex. They beat Twin Cedars 10-0 in five innings, Class 3A #13 West Burlington-Notre Dame 5-1, and South Hardin 12-1 in five innings. Head Coach Jay Harms’ squad has outscored the opposition by an 82-6 margin.

The #1 team in the state, Fort Dodge, has dropped a few contests already this year, albeit to larger schools, and could be leaped for that #1 spot when Friday’s rankings come out. Oskaloosa is followed by #3 Dallas Center-Grimes, who they will play on Wednesday this week. The winner of that contest will likely get the #1 honors in the next rankings. We will have that game for you here on the Mahaska Zone Network from Grimes this Wednesday, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:30 PM.

Tonight, the girls play their first 4A team on the schedule, conference foe Grinnell. Grinnell went 3-30 last season, and are 2-4 so far this year. That game is at the Oskaloosa softball field east of the high school.

In other area softball games today, Albia is at Chariton, Clarke is at Centerville for a doubleheader, Cardinal is hosting Danville, Newton is hosting Dallas Center-Grimes, Ottumwa has two games at home with Des Moines Lincoln, Fairfield is at Fort Madison for a double dip, Keota is at Tri-County, Knoxville is at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Pekin is hosting Louisa-Muscatine, North Mahaska is at Lynnville-Sully, Pella is hosting Pella Christian, PCM is at home against Saydel, Sigourney is at BGM, Washington is at Keokuk for two games, and Twin Cedars is hosting Wayne.
